Mummineni Subbarao Siddhartha Kalapeetham, an established cultural organisation in the capital city organizing every month a cultural event duly inviting eminent troupes from all over India to exhibit their skills in Vijayawada and thereby promoting the arts & culture. The events have become worth watching entertainment to the city art lovers. It is worth mention that the main aim of the Academy to involve their colleges’ students in all their programmes to create interest in youth.

As a part of monthly programme, Siddhartha Kala Peetham has conducted “Sasirrekha Patinayam” Kuchipudi dance ballet performed by Prof Pasumarthy Ramalinga Sastry on Thursday at Siddhartha auditorium. The ballet was based on a popular Maha Bharat myth story. Vallabhaneni Chowdary has written this dance ballet 58 years ago in Yekshagana format and dedicated it to Kuchipudi Bahavatas. Kuchipudi legend late Chinta Venkatramaiah has composed the music in the same format.

The “Sasirekha Parinayam” was presented with perfect choreography and the spectators well received. The artistes exhibited excellent expressions and ‘Kara, Pada vinyasam’ and proved their talent. The performance of the main roles of Sri Krishna, Balarama, Subhadra, Sasirekha, Abhimanya, and Ghatotkacha was so fit to their personality.

Venkata Naga Chalapati Rao, Surendra, Girija, Sahitya, Subbaraju, Pasumarthy Srinivasa Sarma, Ajay Srinivas and Bh Rama Murthy performed the roles. The dance director Pasumarthy Ramalinga Sastry has performed as Sutradhari and led the ballet. Excellent vocal support was rendered by DVS Sastry and Padma R Sastry.

The instrumental support rendered by K Rajagopalachary on mridangam, Palaparthy Anjaneyulu on violin, VL Narayana on Veena, VBS Murali on flute and D Jayakumarachary on Tabla has elevated the dance ballet. Make up and costume’s technicians Jitendra, Lakshmi, Prabhu and Yugandhar should be specially appreciated for their efforts to make the artistes to glitter and colorful. On behalf of the organization, the artistes were felicitated by Dr Chivukula Sundararama Sarma.
