Eluru: West Godavari district collector K Bhaskar on Saturday said that Bus Bay centres will be established for every 10 kilometres distance on National Highway in the district and added that a plan has been chalked out.He reviewed various development works progress including irrigation, national highways and railways on Saturday at Collector’s office.

Addressing the media corps, he said that the passengers are facing troubles in taking rest during their journey and mostly women are feeling inconvenience while travelling on the highways.
Keeping the concerns in mind, he directed the officials to take up land acquisition to set up the bus bay centres for every 10 kilometres.
They have to be equipped with restrooms, petrol bunk, Shopping malls also. This will benefit the passengers, drivers besides providing employment to the youth of surrounding area villages.
He also directed the officials to see that the bus bay centres are established on both sides of the national highway.
He directed the officials to provide basic amenities in the 18 acres that is acquired for the purpose of passengers and drivers.
Bhaskar reiterated that the land acquired should be utilised for the purpose of the acquisition.
The collector said that a comprehensive joint survey would be taken up for Eluru Godavari canal extension.
He said that the State government has proposed to encourage inland waterways in the district and Rs.800 crores will be spent for the Godavari canal extension works and added that proposals have been kept ready for the required land in 37 villages.
He asked the revenue and irrigation officials to complete the canal extension joint survey within 10 days and directed them to concentrate on the other side of the canal bund instead of the canal side road.
He asked the Waterway project officials to take necessary steps for the release of Central fund of Rs.300 Crores.
He said that during extension works, no irrigation canal closed and the structures, stone fixing and earthwork to be taken up on war footing he suggested to take up the extension works during the canal closure time.
Joint Collectors Pulipati Koteswara Rao, MH Sheriff, District Revenue Officer Katta Hymavathi, Polavaram Right Main Canal SE Srinivasa Yadav and others participated in the review.
