Eluru: A couple here on Saturday evening ended their lives by jumping from a bridge into Yanamadurru drain on the bypass road in Bhimavaram town.The police and the fire personnel are searching for the dead bodies in the Yanamadurru drain.

According to police, Putta Satya Swaroopa (18), a 2nd year B.Sc Student in BV Raju Degree College was in love with Kanimireddy Mahesh (25), a private employee for quite some time.
Both the young lovers were residing in Sunkara Paddayya street in Bhimavaram town.
On the fateful day, Swaroopa asked her lover Mahesh alias Pandu to come over to Yanamadurru bridge in Bypass road. Peeved over her lover being late to the spot, Swaroopa was in altercation with Mahesh and jumped into the Yanamadurru drain.
Shocked to see Swaroopa taking to the extreme step, Mahesh immediately dived into the drain to rescue her but in vain.
However, the couple was swept away by the drain water. Upon being informed about the incident by the local people, Bhimavaram police and fire personnel reached the spot and made launched searching operation for the dead bodies.
It is learnt that the parents of ill-fated couple agreed to perform their marriage after Swaroopa completes her graduation. Bhimavaram police registered a case.
