Vijayawada: CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna demanded that the State government take steps to regularise services of contract lecturers.

Ramakrishna alleged that the government was intentionally ignoring the issue of contract lecturers.

He pointed out that the contract lecturers took part in relay hunger strike for one month seeking solutions to their problems.

MLC M V S Sarma was on a hunger strike for four days. In a press release here on Saturday, Ramakrishna said that the Telugu Desam Party leadership promised contract lecturers that their services would be regularised if their party come into power.

The party had recognised the demands of the contract lecturers as genuine demands and ensured job security to them.

However, the TDP government had not taken any measures to fulfill its promise during the last twoand- half-years, the CPI leader alleged.

Ramakrishna said the report of Cabinet sub-committee led by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu was not implemented.

He alleged that the State government has put the entire education sector in the hands of Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and P Narayana, who support corporate education system in the State.
