Eluru: Janmabhoomi programme is all set kick start in West Godavari district from January 2 to 11. During the 9-day long programme, about 48,222 new white ration cards would be distributed to poor eligible people in the “JANMABHOOMI – MAA UURU” programme.

Disclosing this at a review meeting of Tahsildars and MPDOs on Janmabhoomi village meeting arrangements, the Women and Child Welfare Minister Peethala Sujatha on Sunday said that the State government has decided to sanction white ration card to every eligible poor family n the district.

So far 11.50 lakh white ration cards were distributed to the eligible beneficiaries, she added.

The Minister stated that the officials collected the eligible people data and uploaded it online again for sanctioning of new cards.

As per the new list about 48,222 people will get the cards during the Janmabhoomi meetings, she added.

She asked the officials to create awareness among the public on the government welfare and development programmes in the district. She said that to eradicate the bogus ration cards, the government has introduced the EPoS machines with biometric to issue ration to the card holders.

Referring to the Janmabhoomi village meetings in Chintalapudi constituency, the Minister directed officials to make sure of huge attendance to the meetings from Chintalapudi, Lingapaem, Kamavarapukota and Jangareddigudemmandals.

She said the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) work days are increased to 150 from100 and the rural people cannot leave their place for livelihood. She also asked the officials to coordinate with each other to make the Janmabhoomi success.
