Addressing the meeting, AITUC State general secretary G Obulesu decried that the Union government was deliberately ignoring the justified demand of lakhs of contract, contingent and outsourced workers who have been demanding fair pay.

He recalled the Supreme Court’s ruling directing the Centre to pay ‘equal wage for equal work’.

The AITUC state general secretary said that the trade unions are demanding Rs 18,000 be made as minimum wage and all the trade unions are in unison in their demand.

CITU State secretary J Ajaykumar noted that 80 per cent of working class lacks job security and governments are suppressing the agitation taken by unions.

INTUC district president Subbaiah underscored the need to fight against revoking contract and outsourcing system.

He said that the trade unions have to for regularise of lakhs of contract employees in various government departments.

Trade union leaders who spoke at the meeting criticised that people were experiencing hardship due to demonetisation scheme and lakhs of workers lost their livelihood due to it.

UCCI leader Sundara Ramaraju, YSRCPTU leader M Sivaramakrsihna, AIBEA leader Kondala Rao, BSNL employees’ union leader G Venkateswara Rao and other unions’ leaders attended the meeting.
