Guntur: The district administration started land acquisition for 17 km long Chilakaluripet bypass road which will be laid at a cost of Rs 600 crore to solve traffic problem on the national highway. The sixth- lane bypass road will start at Timmapuram and it will end at Konayakunta near Boppudi village.

Guntur: The district administration started land acquisition for 17 km long Chilakaluripet bypass road which will be laid at a cost of Rs 600 crore to solve traffic problem on the national highway.

The sixth- lane bypass road will start at Timmapuram and it will end at Konayakunta near Boppudi village.

The revenue department will acquire land from the farmers in Boppudi, Purushottamapatnam, Chilakaluripet and Nadendla.

The officials have already identified the land for Chilakaluripet bypass road and seeking objections from the farmers to acquire the land for bypass road.

The farmers are demanding market value for their land.

The officials began exercise to acquire 340 acres of land from the farmers.

The 17 km long sixth lane bypass road will get three flyover bridges and five underpass bridges for the convenience of the villagers.

The NHAI has already issued land acquisition process for the project.

Some farmers, who opposed land acquisition process, approached the High Court.

The NHAI made it clear its stand clear to lay the sixth lane bypass road.

As soon as land acquisition process is completed, the NHAI will take further steps to lay the bypass road.

After bifurcation of the State, traffic on the NH-5 has been on the rise.

Congested roads leading to road accidents on the NH-5, if the bypass road is laid, the traffic on the NH-5 near Chilakaluripet will come down.

As there is no bypass road in Chilakaluripet town, the residents of the town are facing a lot of problems for crossing the highway.

If the sixth lane road is laid, traffic problem will be solved.

Similarly, if the bypass road is laid, Chilakaluripet, Boppudi,Timmapuram, Purushottampatnam and Nadendla will also develop.

NHAI (Vijayawada) project director T Suresh Kumar, said: The government released land acquisition notification.

After completionof land acquisition process, we will take further steps to lay the bypass road."
