Visakhapatnam: A youth made an attempt on the life of a 40-year-old bartender, over a petty issue at a fast food centre in Old Gajuwaka late on Monday night.

He was admitted to a hospital where his condition is said to be stable. Both the victim and accused were in a drunken state.

Gajuwaka Circle Inspector Emmanuel Raju said Govinda Raju, who is a bartender in a bar at Gajuwaka, gave a loan of Rs 5,000 to one Naidu, who works in a fast food centre in the same area three years ago.

Though he has been asking for repayment of the money, Naidu did not bother.
On Monday at around 11.30pm, Govinda Raju went to the fast food centre, where Naidu works and demanded him pay back his money.

Police said that the duo was already in an inebriated condition and entered into a heated argument.

Naidu's younger brother Sai, who was at the spot, noticed the argument.

Sai, who was also under the influence of alcohol, attacked Govinda Raju with a fork and caused injuries on his neck.

Raju suffered severe bleeding injuries and collapsed on the spot. Naidu and his brother fled the spot. Other workers at the fast food centre shifted Raju to a hospital.
