Naval show at VJA, RJY in February

​Visakhapatnam: Eastern Naval Command, in association with the AP Tourism Development Corporation, will carry out ‘operational display’ at Vijayawada and Rajahmundry during the first week of February.

According to the APDC sources, the event is being organized following a request from the citizens of Vijayawada and Rajahmundry and the AP government to the Eastern Naval Command.

Unlike the ‘operational display’ which is held on a massive scale at the command headquarters area like Visakhapatnam, this will be a low key affair.

The Eastern Naval Command officials are presently camping in Vijayawada to finalize the event and location.
Apart from the operational display, the naval show would cover water sports and the naval personnel would show their might on sailing, riding on water scooters and jet skiing, added a senior official from Navy.

A rehearsal, in this regard, would take place on February 2 with the final show slated for February 4. The Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be acting as the chief guest during the inaugural of the show.

Several stalls would be put up showcasing the arms and equipment of the Navy. In addition to this, the Naval Dockyard will display the models of the latest warships.

Additionally, some stalls would be put up on career counseling with a view to attract the youth to join the defense services. As part of the show, Marcos (Marine Commandos) will exhibit their skills of rescue operations.

After the conclusion of the event at Vijayawada, the show would be shifted to Rajahmahendravaram where a similar programme would be conducted for the residents of East Godavari.

Tentatively, it is decided to conduct the naval show on February 9, February 10 and February 11 at Rajahmahendravam . This is the first time the Naval Operation Display being held outside Visakhapatnam.
