Visakhapatnam: The ACB officials trapped and caught red-handed senior accountant of District Treasury Department G Srinivas (36) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a government junior lecturer in the city on Wednesday. DSP (Visakha Urban) of ACB K Ramakrishna Prasad said that the junior lecturer of Government Junior College Pendurthi whose service has been regularised had his salary bill pending for the past six months. The bill was cleared by the tribunal and had come to treasury for payment.
When the lecturer approached Srinivas, who is a Group-II officer for release of his salary bill, the officer demanded a bribe of Rs 8000. Later, he agreed to accept Rs 6,000 for doing the favour. However, upset over demand for bribe, the lecturer approached the ACB officials recently. After verifying the facts, the ACB officials laid a trap and arrested Srinivas when he was accepting the bribe from the lecturer.
