The government has been trying to acquire the land forcibly for the construction of stadium, he alleged. Bommina Srinivasa Rao was addressing the media at the district office in Nunna village on Thursday.

He said that the government had allotted 22 acre of land in RS No.180, 181 at Machilipatnam for the Kummara, Salivahana Sangham in 1971, he reminded. The workers have been doing bricks at the place for the past four decades, he added.

The government suddenly announced about the acquisition of 22 acres land for the construction of stadium, he said. There was place for the sports stadium near Zilla Parishad Office in Machilipatnam, where indoor stadium and swimming pool was constructed, he said.

The Sangham decided to stage a dharna in front of the Collectorate in Machilipatnam on January 9. Sangham Vijayawada city president B Durga Prasad, Nunna sarpanch Karre Vijay Kumar and others were present.
