Navy chief ‘s wife opens new facility at Kalyani

Visakhapatnam: President Naval Wives Welfare Association Reena Lanba inaugurated the state-of-the-art Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Centre at Naval hospital INHS Kalyani here on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam: President Naval Wives Welfare Association Reena Lanba inaugurated the state-of-the-art Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Centre at Naval hospital INHS Kalyani here on Thursday.

The Naval hospital will now be equipped with Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI) facility.

Speaking on the occasion, Reena Lanba said that this centre will fulfill the dream of parenthood of the childless couples.

The facility is expected to benefit infertile couples who earlier had to be sent to other higher centres for treatment causing psychological and monetary stress to them.

Surgeon Commodore Rahul Ray, Commanding Officer, INHS Kalyani in his welcome address said that this centre is a foundation on which an In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) Centre of the future Command Hospital will be established.

Surgeon Captain G D Maiti, head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, later briefed the guests about the technical aspects of infertility. The opening of the ART centre at INHS Kalyani has been possible due to the efforts of Naval headquarters and the office of Director General Medical Services (Navy), New Delhi to improve health services to the service personnel, a release issued by Eastern Naval
Command said.
