Kakinada all set for beach festival

Kakinada: Giving a fillip to tourism in East Godavari, the tourism department under ‘Swadeshi Darshan’, is going to conduct a beach festival from January 12-15 at NTR beach.

The event is expected to see a large number of tourists. In addition to NTR beach, both Hope Island and Coringa Mangroves are also added to the show to attract more number of tourists for the event, said District Collector H Arun Kumar.

Reviewing arrangements for the four-day mega tourism at the Collectorate on Friday, the Collector said that apart from cultural activities, water sports, kite flying, beach volley ball , beach Kabaddi, beach yoga, beach wrestling, flash mob, water sports, dance with color water, and heli tourism will too be conducted in a big way to attract tourists.
Necessary environmental clearance from the forest department has also been obtained, informed the Collector. Further, night halt arrangements have been made for the enthused tourists.

Also, DWCRA, bazaar food courts, and female shopping are being put up alongside the beach. He said that the State government sanctioned Rs 2.5 crore for conducting the four-day beach festival and further Rs 20 crore was allotted by the Union government.

Actors and guests from Tollywood will be the star of attraction during the four-day event, revealed Arun Kumar.

Kakinada Municipal Commissioner S Alim Basha, Tourism Project Special Officer Bhimasankara Rao also attended the review meeting.
