Visakhapatnam: The body of a 40-year-old man, who died at Chippada under Bhimili police station, was exhumed by a medical team on Friday in the presence of police after the victim’s brother complained of a murder.

The police said 40-year-old Chittibabu died on January 1 and his family members buried the body on the same day suspecting that he died of consuming excess alcohol on the eve of New Year on December 31 night.

However, on Thursday, family members of the deceased came to know that Chittibabu was beaten by some persons on December 31 night over a trivial issue and was killed by the gang.

Chittibabu’s elder brother lodged a complaint stating that his brother was killed by some persons. Based on the complaint, the Bheemili police led by Inspector S Bala Surya Rao, along with the revenue officials, exhumed the body on Friday and the medical team from KG Hospital conducted post-mortem.

The police said that they would investigate the case once they get the post-mortem report.
