Nellore: Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana suggested the educational institutions to have tie ups with local industries to enable research. Addressing a meeting at Audisankara Engineering College in Gudur on Saturday, he said that varsities in Singapore and Japan have such links enabling research.

Stating that discipline is the key for progress, he asked the students to be meticulous in achieving their objectives.

“Educational institutions have to lay emphasis on research-oriented education for technological progress. The Chief Minister directed the vice chancellors of various varsities for having tie ups with industries,” he informed.

Minister for Finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that 35 per cent of population were youth and progress would possible with them.

“Back in 1995 Chandrababu Naidu gave priority for technical education and permitted for setting engineering college even in a revenue division. Before 1995, students had to prefer colleges in Karnataka for pursuing engineering courses,” he said.

He said they were allocating Rs. 4,000 crore for secondary education annually and huge amount was also being spent for fee reimbursement.

Finance Minister said that they would take a decision on Pulicat mouths as he had attended a workshop in Trivandrum, which was chaired by the union home minister in which there was huge discussion on the lake system.

He also said the Centre has to release Rs 1,500 crore under NREGS but, the CM had allocated Rs. 500 crore for immediate assistance.
