Speed up Handri-Neeva canal works, officials told
Puttaparthi (Anantapur): District Collector Kona Sasidhar inspected the Handri-Neeva canal works at various points and directed the officials to complete the second phase of the project works by February 20.

He also advised the engineers and contractors and the irrigation officials to treat the project not just as an engineering project but to treat it as a people's project and complete the same within the scheduled time.
The Collector was here to welcome AP & TS Governor E S L Narasimhan at Prashanthi Nilayam. He warned against complacency in the project works as the farmers and other stakeholders were waiting eagerly for the completion of the project.
He also visited the project works at Chennekothapalle. As many as two railway crossing under bridges were on progress. Sasidhar said that top priority should be given for the early completion of the second phase of the project.
He said that if water is also released to Bukkapatnam, Marala and Cherlapalle reservoirs, 800 villages would get drinking water. The Collector also held discussions with Chief Engineer Jalandhar in this regard.
