Fun and fitness aimed at Happy Sunday
Ongole: ‘Happy Sunday’, a programme to dedicate a part of the roads for recreation, games and sports activities, which were launched here on Sunday, evoked good response from the people.

Commencing the programme, the organisers announced that they are expecting the participation of children, youth, women, elderly people belonging to all walks of life.
Sankranti Venkata Krishna, Commissioner of Ongole Municipal Corporation, said that they are trying to inculcate healthy transformation in the lives of public by organising ‘Happy Sunday’ programme every week from now.
He said, ‘Happy Sunday’ is a concept introduced in Bogota town of Columbia in 1976, to dedicate a few roads for the public than automobiles.
Taking a cue from the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the Ongole Municipal Corporation is also introducing the programme after Vijayawada and Rajahmundry in the State.
In this programme, we encourage folk arts, games, yoga, dance, walking, cycling and other activities to encourage people to be a part of healthy, safe and happy Ongole.”
The Rhythm and Siddhu Dance Academies trained a number of students from various schools and colleges in the town and performed dance shows on the street and
received good response from the public.
The dance masters announced that they will train the interested public to participate in the coming programmes. The classical dance by the students of Sri Sai Natya Kalabharati, Kolatam and folkdance by the students of PVR Municipal High School, volleyball by Krishna and team, yoga by Yoga Mitramandali, skating by Nagaraju and team, cultural and western music and painting by Rangula Art Gallery attracted more audience and participation from the common public.
