17 arrested; `1.6 lakh cash, 4 vehicles seized
Kurnool: Atmakur police have nabbed 17 persons and recovered Rs 1.6 lakh cash, a car and 3 two-wheelers from them. They have committed thefts at various places in Srisailam and Atmakur divisions.

On the directions of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ake Ravi Krishna, Atmakur DSP K Supraja formed special teams to apprehend the thieves.
All the accused were produced before the media in the presence of the SP at Ved Vyas Auditorium here on Tuesday. Addressing the media, Ravi Krishna said Shaik Ahmed Basha, Balija Eshwariah, Vadde Shiva, Pulakomma Keshava Rao, Gannavarapu Srinu, Dondapati Srinivasulu, P Ismail, Kundala Koteshwara Rao, Mannepalli Seshaiah, E Nagaraju, Samudrala Yakob, Kavati Pratap, Challa Shamulu, Sathupati Sai, Thammishetty Chandrasekhar, Vemula Ram Babu and Akula Vijay have formed groups and used to target locked houses.
The SP said that 12 cases were pending against the accused. They were arrested at Shikareshwaram in Srisailam and at Chakram Hotel in Atmakur. Ravi Krishna said that accused would be produced before Atmakur Junior First Class Magistrate for further action.
Circle Inspector B Krishnaiah, Srisailam I Town SI Vara Prasad, II Town SI Obulesu and Atmakur SI Lokesh Kumar were present. Ravi Krishna has appreciated Atmakur DSP K Supraja and her teams for apprehending the accused.
