Atmakur (Kurnool): Srisailam legislator Budda Rajasekhara Reddy has vowed to provide basic amenities in Maoist-affected villages by allocating huge sums, over and above the funds allotted to his native village, for their development.

He took part in the ‘Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru’ programme held at Vadla Ramapuram in Atmakur mandal. He announced Rs 1.50 crore then and there to the village for development of cement concrete roads, drainages and drinking water supply.

He asked government officials to extend benefits under various development schemes to the poor.

Several women have complained to the MLA that the official response on damage to standing crops and houses was poor. There is no response from officials concerned to our representations, they alleged.

The MLA warned officials of taking a stern action against them if similar kind of complaints surface again. He offered to speak to officials for discharging water into Vadlaramapuram tank from VRSP.

The MLA said the Siddapuram lift-irrigation scheme would become operational in three months driving away drought in the region.

The Janmabhoomi programme to be held at Thotageri in the town was shifted to Zilla Parishad High School causing disturbance to students while they were appearing for half-yearly exams. Later, a Rangoli contest was organised in the school premises.
