Eluru: A sub-inspector aspirant died of illness while attempting 1600 meters running race conducted as part of physical fitness for the SI posts at Eluru range on the early hours of Tuesday.

LVC Sekhar Viswanatham (26), an MBA student of Haripuram area of Rajamahendravaram took to the written test for SI posts held in November last year.

After being qualified in the written test, he attended the physical fitness test held at Eluru police parade grounds on Monday morning. Subsequent to the verification process of certificates, he was asked to go through the 1600 metres running race at the police parade grounds at Eluru.

In the middle of running race, he fell unconscious. The police officials on duty immediately shifted him to Eluru government hospital wherein the doctors suggested officials to shift him to Ramesh Cardiac Centre in Eluru for better treatment.

Later from the Cardiac Centre, the doctors shifted him to Andhra Hospital in Eluru. As his condition became critical, doctors moved him to Vijayawada. When he was shifted to a private hospital in Vijayawada, the doctors declared him brought dead.
