Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Thursday inaugurated the new international terminal at Gannavaram airport near Vijayawada.

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Union Minister Sujana Chowdhary, Urban Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu, other state Ministers, MPs and MLAs were seen in attendance at the Bhoomi Puja ceremony.

Built at 9,520 square meters at a cost of Rs 137 crore, the new Air terminal was constructed to cater to the increasing passenger traffic. As the new terminal is operational, International flights and cargo planes can land at the Gannavaram Airport which in turn would increase the viability of airlines to operate from the state.

With 16 check-in counters and baggage conveyor belts, the terminal has space for 16 airplanes and parking space for 300 cars apart from seating arrangements for 500 passengers.
