Rampa Chodavaram: Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas on Wednesday said that both the State and the Central governments were committed to provide adequate medical facilities to the tribals and the poor and added that dialysis units would be set up in Rampa Chodavaram and Chintur area hospitals.

Dialysis units would be set up in Rampa Chodavaram initially and later in Chintur, he added.The Minister laid foundation stone for the district early intervention centre that will be built with National Health Mission funds of Rs 1.06 crore and inaugurated paying as well as waiting rooms constructed at a cost of Rs 59 lakh at Rampa Chodavaram area hospital.

Later, Srinivas inaugurated a blood bank set up by ONGC at a cost of Rs 60 lakh under Corporate Social Responsibility.

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, the Minister said that steps would be taken to allocate necessary funds to transform Rampa Chodavaram area hospital into 100-bed hospital and assured that the anomalies in salaries between the old doctors and newly-appointed ones would be rectified.

He said mobile medical unites would be deployed to improve medical facilities in agency.He advised tribal people to use mosquito nets and change their food habits and called upon everyone to come forward to donate blood and save lives.

The Minister said that emergency treatment would be available through early intervention centre and infant deaths would be prevented through them.

He assured that facilities would be improved at Rampa Chodavaram area hospital in a phased manner to prevent tribals going to Kakinada and Rajamahendravaram general hospitals for treatment.

Stating that 71 hospitals were being constructed in the State, he said that Andhra Pradesh stood first in the country in reducing mother and child mortality rate.

Promising that regular medical staff would be appointed in the agency area, Srinivas stressed the need for increasing hemoglobin percentage from 8 in the agency area. He said 1.35 lakh people were benefited from NTR medical tests and NTR baby kits were being distributed free of cost.

Later, the Minister inaugurated modern facilities at the primary health centre in Addatheegala. East Godavari district Collector H Arun Kumar, ITDA Project Director A S Dinesh Kumar and MLC Ratna Bai were present on the occasion.
