BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao on Wednesday said the party is currently not considering any changes in the party State leadership.

Answering a query at a press conference here, he said the party State president post is not vacant. “It is not a case that the party intends to change the president but cannot change. It will act when it feels there is a need for change,” he added.

Muralidhar was cautious without mentioning either present president Haribabu’s name or one of the aspirants for the post Somu Veerraju.
He also avoided answering a question over Haribabu who was nominated to the party State chief post, still continuing in the post even two years after bifurcation of the State.
Elections to the district units were also held about two years ago. The BJP leadership had to consult these units before naming the new leader of the party, as per the guidelines. Caste factor might be the strong reason for delay in declaring a new president, a source said.
To another query as to why Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao (BJP member) in Naidu’s Cabinet failed to appoint governing body for the famous Durga temple, Muralidhar Rao evaded reply. The issue has been kept pending for the last two years.
Muralidhar Rao defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demonetisation issue. He claimed that no protests were reported from anywhere in the country and people wholeheartedly supported him to take on black money.
When grilled over snatching rights of people to enjoy their own money with limit on withdrawal of cash from banks, he replied that Modi had urged the people to cooperate with the government for 50 days before enforcing demonetisation.
BJP’s winning spree in elections to local bodies all over the country was an indicator that people continue to support the Modi government and the demonetisation decision.
