‘Corrupt staff bringing bad name to revenue dept’
Visakhapatnam: Perturbed over a series of raids and arrests by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the revenue officials and the statement issued by BJP floor leader P Vishnu Kumar Raju that the corruption was increasing in the State, District Collector Praveen Kumar on Thursday held a meeting with the revenue officials and the office-bearers of revenue association.

Most of the tahsildars, deputy tahsildars and land surveyors were present in the meeting.
Addressing the officials, the Collector said just for a few corrupt officials, entire revenue department was getting bad name.
He said the mindset has to be changed and periodical meeting on corruption should be held at district, mandal and divisional level. He said he came to know that outsiders were found in the revenue departments confabulating with the lower rung officials which should be stopped immediately.
He appealed to the staff to work without deviating from rules and regulations giving a transparent service to the people. Stating that biometric system would be implemented in all the mandal offices, the Collector made the employees take a pledge against corruption.
