Vijayawada: The Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Friday demanded that the Central government should withdraw its decision to increase fee for vehicle registrations, driving licenses and fitness certificates.

CITU State general secretary M A Gafoor said the Union government issued GSR 1183 dated 20-12-2016 increasing fees for various transport services which would badly affect owners and drivers of lorries, autos and other transport vehicles.

Registration certificate fee for motor bikes has been increased to Rs 400 against the existing fee of Rs 160, and for non-transport vehicles to Rs 700 against old fee of Rs 400.

He said the government has almost doubled the fee for fitness certificates and imposed Rs 50 per day as late fee. Gafoor said the decision of government will badly hit transport workers and demanded the withdrawal of hike.
