Sankranti festivities kick off

Tanuku: Students of S K S D Mahila Kalasala actively took part in ‘Sankranti Sambaralu’ held here on Friday. The spirit of ‘Sankranti’ was visible in the college with students displaying gobbemmalu, bommala koluvu.

Also, the students participated enthusiastically in pongal preparation, bhogimantalu and gobbillu dance. ‘Telugu ammayi’ competition was the star attraction of the program and saw a huge number of girls participating in the program. Prizes were given to the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, the founder secretary and correspondent Chitturi Subbarao stressed on the importance of preserving cultural traditions saying that they help in reinforcing the nation’s identity, passing goals from one generation to the next.

Patanjali centre convener Sridhar, Andhra Sugars Limited Executive Directors (Technical) Atluri Ramarao and N Subbarao, who were the chief guests on the occasion, had distributed the prizes to the participants.

S K S D College (MCA) Principal VV Satyanarayana Reddy, Degree and PG college Principal P Aruna, junior college Principal M Rajendra prasad, Vice principal Kumaraswami along with the college committee treasurer Nandigam Sudhakar, SDC college of IT Dr J Chandra Prasad, Chitturi Satya Usha Rani, Chitturi Venkata Krishna, Chiturri Reena Sai, A.O. Dr D. Subba Rao Staff and students have participated in the Sankranthi celebrations.
