Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the proposed three-day National Women’s Parliament to be held from February 10 would announce the Amaravati declaration for women empowerment.

Speaking to mediapersons in Vijayawada city here on Friday, he said the State government would host the biggest women’s meet in view of increasing importance of women’s participation in society. The National Women Parliamentary summit would give new direction, he said.

Several prominent women in various disciplines would attend the meeting. President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have also been invited for this summit and their participation is expected to be confirmed soon, he said.

Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said that women representatives from 29 States would participate in the meeting including speakers, legislators, MPs.

He said that women representatives, several prominent personalities would attend from Africa, America, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other countries.

He said that mainly women empowerment issue would be debated and nearly 2500 college students were invited to work as volunteers. He said that an action plan is being readied for this purpose.

AP Legislative chairman Chakrapani, Minister Peethala Sujatha and several ministers were also present. Recalling the Telugu Desam founder NT Rama Rao’s move that had given equal right for women in family property, Naidu said that he had also implemented the 33 per cent reservation for women.

As many as 86,000 DWACRA women are in the State he said and added that they have been provided Rs 4,200 crore assets.

He reiterated that women have been appointed as drivers, conductors, and in the police department.

He opined that the women should get equal status in all the fields then only society could be considered equal.

He invited suggestions for women’s empowerment. Naidu also said the State would be the venue for various important occasions and Navy fleet would be organised in Vijayawada city soon. The CM also released the meeting brochure.
