Tirupati: The newly appointed vice chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidaypeetha (RSVP) Prof V Muralidhara Sharma, a renowned Sanskrit scholar and educationist, took charge here on Sunday.

Tirupati: The newly appointed vice chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidaypeetha (RSVP) Prof V Muralidhara Sharma, a renowned Sanskrit scholar and educationist, took charge here on Sunday.

He is the 8th Vice Chancellor of RSVP, a Deemed Sanskrit University (fully funded by UGC), Tirupati. After offering prayers to the Lord of Seven Hills in his chamber, he assumed the charge amidst Vedic chanting by Scholars in a simple manner.

He will be in the office for a period of five years. After assuming office, Sharma interacting with media said that he would strive for introducing more new courses and strengthening of the existing departments " I seek your enormous support & co-operation and also from our own Vidyapeetha family members for the development of the institution and promoting Sanskrit language in all aspects’’ he averred.

Registrar Prof C Umashankar, senior members of teaching faculty- professors MLN Murthy, J Ramakrishna, RLN Sastry, O Ramlal, A Sripadabhat and others were present.
