​Tirupati: The recently formed Balija United Front (BUF) has decided to meet Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to press for extending reservation to Balijas based on their socio economic condition.

BUF founder and former TTD trust board member O V Ramana speaking to media here on Monday said that as the Balijas are at loss all these years by aligning with Kapus, the BUF wanted Balijas to sail alone to achieve reservation.

And clarified that BUF is not against reservation to Kapus but only keen on upliftment of Balija as they still remain Most Backward in comparison to the Kapus and other sub-sects that are broadly categorized as Kapu community.

“It was the Kapus who were ultimately benefitted politically, socially and economically leaving Balijas far behind,” Ramana lamented. Adding that even in the Kapu Corporation it was the Kapus who got lion share in the allocation of funds.

The only way for the backward Balijas who are in considerable number in Rayalaseema, Nellore and Prakasam district is to unitedly fight to achieve reservation, on the lines of Munnur Kapu and Thurpu Kapu communities who could get reservation by espousing their cause separately’’ he pointed. The BUF will hold district wise meeting before taking a delegation to CM on the reservation issue.

Refuting Kapu senior leader Mudragada Padmanabham indirectly dubbing the move of BUF as the mind game of the government to weaken the Kapu movement, he sought.
