Puttaparthi (Anantapur): IT and Information Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy has promised to develop Puttaparthi Assembly segment as a model constituency in the district by spending Rs 175 crore.

In which, Rs 120 crore will be spent for extending drinking water facilities to 420 villages in the constituency, he added.

Addressing a meeting at Amadagur village in his constituency on Tuesday, Palle informed that Rs 10 crore will be spent on laying tar and cement roads.

Besides, the Minister said life insurance under Chandranna Bima scheme has been arranged with just a premium payment of Rs 15 per head.

Also, every white card holder is entitled to receive corporate treatment up to Rs 2.5 lakh a year, he said.

Palle stated that the TDP has fullfilled its election pledge by waiving farm loan benefitting 84 lakh farmers in the State. Out of Rs 434 crores crop insurance released to the State, Rs 368 crore was for Anantapur district alone, he added.

The Minister and his wife Uma Reddy distributed economic assets to the people.

Book on Anantapur history unveiled
Anantapur: IT, Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy has lauded the efforts of the writer Vempalle Gangadhar, a Kendra Sahitya Akademi Awardee and the Gayatri Publishing Company for their efforts in bringing out the book on the ancient history of the district.

He said that books of this kind helps one to go down the history lane of the district and also understand its culture and the ancient values that shaped its destiny.

Participating in the unveiling ceremony here on Tuesday, Palle said that the book was originally compiled by an Anglican Col. Collins Mekange and brought out for the first time in 1853 by C P Brown, the author of English-Telugu dictionary.

Publisher Eluru Enganna said that the book reflected the times and conditions during 1750-1810.
