Tirupati: A leopard fell into the trap laid by the hunters at Perumalla Palle village of Bangarupalem mandal, in Chittoor district on Wednesday.
Two farmers saw the big cat prowling near their field early in the morning and raised an alarm drawing the attention of more farmers coming to the area.
They scared the animal, forcing it to run away from the field, stepping into a snare loop laid by hunters for wild animals near the forest area, adjoining the village.
They informed the forest officials of Chittoor west division who tranquilized the animal and released it into the forest later.
