Assurances panel seeks action against absentees

Nellore: Chairman for the AP Legislative Assembly Committee on Government Assurances and legislator of Rajanagaram constituency Pendurthi Venkatesh directed District Collector R Mutyala Raju to initiate action against officials, who deputed their subordinates for the review meeting.

He along with committee member and Anakapalli MLA Peela Govinda Satyanarayana has conducted a review meeting with officials at ZP Conference Hall here on Thursday. They reviewed functioning of education, veterinary, housing, tourism, youth welfare, minorities, revenue and 8 other departments. However, majority district officials have deputed their subordinates to the meeting for explaining progress in the departments.

They failed to respond thoroughly which made the members angry. Responding to the objections of the committee members, the Collector asked the officials to do homework while coming to the review meeting. The Collector instructed the officials to attend next meeting with complete information. Further, committee members said progress of various government programmes have to be reviewed periodically for completion on time. They asked about various programmes and their status and directed officials concerned to complete the pending works on war foot basis.

They said 9 assurances have been kept under pending and two would be reviewed in Kadapa. They also announced that six assurances have been dropped. Committee member and Mandapet legislator V Jogeswara Rao and other officials were present.
