Eluru: West Godavari district Collector K Bhaskar on Thursday directed the various Bank coordinators to sanction Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) accounts to the customers of current account after linking it with Aadhaar for cashless transactions.

He conducted a meeting with various bank coordinators at Collectorate here.

Speaking at the meeting, the collector said that according to Union Finance Ministry and RBI, every citizen should have a bank account and it should be linked with Aadhaar.

Besides this, the MMID customers can utilise the USID, UDI through net banking and Swiping machines for cashless transactions.

The collector also said that about 44.9 lakh bank accounts were opened in West Godavari district and of 10 lakh accounts are of Andhra Bank only. Unfortunately, these accounts have to be linked up with the Aadhaar.

He asked the other bankers about the Aadhar linking process and directed to submit a report every day evening on the cashless transactions.

The Collector said that the RBI has clearly issued directions to the banks to prepare the Aadhaarpay app and except Andhra Bank and SBI the other banks did not prepare the Adharpay app.

He said if the banks opened the current accounts to the customers by giving MMID, the customer can purchase their goods through cashless transactions.

Joint Collector P Koteswara Rao, Lead Bank District Manager M Subrahmanyeswara Rao, RTC Regional Manager S Dhanunjaya Rao, Deputy Commissioner Excise YV Bhaskar Rao and others participated in the meeting.
