Kadapa: Expressing deep concern over increase of accidental deaths, District Collector K V Satyanarayana has stressed on the need of initiating serious action against the people, who were responsible for reckless driving. Addressing the gathering on the occasion of Road Safety Week celebrations here on Thursday, the Collector said that most of the accidents occurred due to human failure as the technical reasons are very rare in road mishaps.

He said that about 530 persons were killed and 2,030 were injured in road accidents in the district last year. He said that most of the accidents happened due to drunken and reckless driving against the norms.

He said that there is an urgent need to create awareness among the drivers over negligent driving to avert accidents. He asked officials concerned to act against drunken driving. District SP PHD Ramakrishna, Deputy Transport Commissioner M Basi Reddy and other officials were also present.
