Visakhapatnam: The city police on Thursday ruled out gangrape of a 60- year-old fisherwoman and destitute who was assaulted by four persons on the intervening night of January 15 and 16.

Joint Commissioner of Police A S Khan said as per her statement she lived in the fish market of Poorna Market since her childhood as she has none to look after her. She said that four persons raped her before leaving the market.

She was admitted to King George Hospital the following morning and a case was registered after recording her statement. The doctors at the King George Hospital examined her and found no injuries on her private parts and there were no symptoms of intercourse. However, materials necessary for conducting analysis were collected and sent to regional forensic laboratory on Thursday.

“After RFSL report and final opinion of gynecology department of King George Hospital the case will be finalised,’’ the Joint Commissioner said. Meanwhile, the police are interrogating anti-social elements of Poorna Market and surrounding areas to elicit the truth of the offence, Khan added.
