Visakhapatnam: Collector Praveen Kumar while disclosing that the National Immunisation Day will be observed on January 29, asked the officials to chalk out the action plan accordingly to help immunise all the 4.38 lakh children in the age group of 0-5 years in the district to help make Vizag as a polio-free district.

Addressing a meeting of District Task Force Committee here on Thursday, the Collector said that the mobile medical teams have to visit house to house up to February 1 to administer polio drops to those who were not administered on the National Immunisation Day.

Additional DM&HO Dr R Ramesh said that 3,690 Polio Booths and 105 Transit Booths will be set up across the district by deploying 7,380 teams, 104 mobile teams, 760 vaccinators and 382 supervisors.

Directing the officials of Panchayat Raj, Education, Power, Woman and Child Welfare, GVMC, ITDA and Transport departments to work in coordination with the representatives of Rotary, Lions Clubs and Indian Medical Association.

He also asked the Port, Navy and Vizag Steel Plant authorities to extend help to make the National Immunisation Day a success. District Immunisation Officer Dr K Vijaylakshmi, Dr Vasundhara, Dr Kiran, Dr Srinivas, district panchayat officer V Krishna Kumari and others were present.
