Motor-bike feats to be main attraction at R-Day fete

Visakhapatnam: The motor-bike feats to be exhibited by specially trained police personnel for 15 minutes in the Republic Day celebrations to be held on the Police Parade Grounds on January 26 will be the main attraction, said Collector Praveen Kumar at a review meeting here on Thursday.

He asked the officials of all 16 government departments to display respective tableau depicting development and welfare programmes in such a way to reflect the image and progress of the district. The Collector directed the officials of government departments to identify deserved beneficiaries for various welfare schemes.

“There should not be any usage of plastic material in the arrangements to be made for the R-Day fete and the GVMC officials should provide drinking water in disposable tumblers replacing mineral water packets”, he said.

The officials were instructed to prepare lists in advance recommending two names among officials and employees from the respective department for presenting merit certificates and also to submit department-wise information relating to R-Day speech to the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations by Friday.
