Kadapa: Chairman for the AP Legislative Assembly Committee on Government Assurances and MLA of Rajanagaram constituency Pendurthi Venkatesh has directed the district officials to speed up completion of pending works. A four-member committee headed by Venkatesh has conducted a review meeting with officials concerned here on Friday, over pending issues related to various departments.

The committee chief expressed displeasure over official of the Irrigation and Endowments departments for poor implementation of various government schemes. He said that officials have failed to complete the projects despite government providing required funds. He asked Varadarajulu, Superintending Engineer of Irrigation department why he had failed to complete works related to Cheyeeru Project even after the government sanctioning Rs 56 crore. “The purpose of providing water to 10,000 acres was defeated with SE’s negligence,” the panel chief stated.

He also slammed SE for not claiming Rs 240 crore funds which were sanctioned by the government for the district under Neeru-Chettu programme. When SE tried to explain the reasons for delay in completion of projects, Venkatesh expressed anger over him. At this juncture, Joint Collector Swetha Teotia intervened and informed committee members that works were delayed due to technical reasons. The committee chairman instructed Assistant Commissioner of Endowments Sankara Balaji to clear encroachments on lands belonging to Gundala Neelakanteswara Swamy Temple at Kota village in Yerraguntla mandal as per the High Court verdict.

Venkatesh directed district officials to clear outstanding dues of Rs 11.5 crore to employees of Kadapa Cooperative Sugar factory and send VRS proposal of employees to the government. However, Collector K V Satyanarayana has directed Managing Director of sugar factory to make a list of employees for utilising their services in other departments. Committee members Peela Govinda Satyanarayana and V Jogeswara Rao were present.
