Vijayawada: Providing quality life to the masses would be possible only if new bio-materials are invented, said Prof Kothiyal, Bharath Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai.

Prof Kothiyal was the chief guest at a two-day national seminar on ‘Advances in Bio-materials and Characterisation Techniques’ (ABCT) organised by the Department of Physics of Andhra Loyola College here on Friday.

Dr Kothiyal said that a large amount of investment in terms of research and resources was essential to enhance the quality of life of the persons suffering from various ailments.

Bio-materials are used as implants when some part of the body need to be replaced. As the medical field is advancing, invention of new kind of biomaterials is need of the hour, he said.

Guest of honour Prof Veeraiah, Nagarjuna University, said that the research scholars should make use of the new research facilities emerging in Nararjuna University and take up quality research useful for the masses.

Rev Fr G A P Kishore, principal, Andhra Loyola College, said that 59 papers and six will deliver lectures in the two-day conference.

Vice Principals Fr S Melchior, G Sambasiva Rao and Fr Chinappa, G Murali Krishna, convener of the seminar, G Sahaya Baskaran organising secretary, were present.
