GVMC urged not to sanction permissions for structures

Visakhapatnam: Andhra University Registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao accompanied by university engineer M G Madhava Babu and others met Municipal Commissioner M Harinarayanan at his chambers here on Friday and urged him not to sanction permissions for taking up any type of structures as far as university disputed sites are concerned under TS No.54/1 and 54/2.

Prof Umamaheswara Rao told the Commissioner that most of the university vacant sites are under encroachments and cases were pending with the court. He requested the Civic Chief to sanction new water supply connections to the Andhra University engineering college and hostel buildings without seeking any deposit as the university is not fully utilising the water through the GVMC’s ‘Bulk Water Supply ’ and remitting the water cess in full.

The registrar also requested to exempt the university buildings from paying property tax and to settle the long pending land compensation issue. Separate representations were submitted on each issue after the discussion.
