Visakhapatnam: MP K Hari Babu said that he is always indebted to Andhra University and Vizag city which were instrumental for his ‘Political Arangetram’ thus grown to the level of a Parliamentarian and heading the State wing of a national party.

Speaking at a meeting organised after the inauguration of renovated class rooms and a meeting hall of Andhra University English Medium School with his Lok Sabha constituency development fund of Rs 40 lakh here on Friday, Hari Babu said that he was happy with the way how the school was developed.

He said any project could be successful if it was taken up with commitment and most of his constituency development fund was being utilised for development of education, health, water schemes and skill development programmes for youth.

Assuring of all help in further developing the school, the MP disclosed that he has taken up a huge project of making 7,250 wooden benches at a cost of Rs 3.25 crore of which Rs 2.5 crore was given by various Public Sector Undertakings.

GITAM president and MLC Dr M V V S Murthi asked the school management to develop the institution on par with Andhra University for which the faculty should extend all help.

He also asked to promote other languages without forgetting the greatness of mother tongue.

Former MP Dr Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad recalled his association with Andhra University. School correspondent Prof B Prasada Rao said the English Medium School was developed with the funds donated by Dr Lakshmi Prasad, Dr Hari Babu and MLC Murthi. Vice-Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao presided over and Registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao proposed a vote of thanks. Earlier, the school website and digital classes were also launched. School faculty and students attended the programme.
