​Visakhapatnam: As expected, the Partnership Summit scheduled to be held from January 27, pushed Visakha Utsav to February first week. As per earlier programme, the three day Utsav was to begin from January 28, the concluding day of the summit.

Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who held a meeting with the officials here on Saturday, told reporters that the Visakha Utsav will now be held between Feb 3-5. The Minister cited no reasons for the rescheduling of the festival, which coincided with the final day of the Summit to draw the visiting foreign delegates.

Regarding the two-day Summit being organised in association with CII, the Minister said arrangements were reviewed with the district officials and this year also the event would be highly successful.

Representatives from 50 countries, 2,000 industrialists and Finance Ministers from 15 countries will take part. `This year we are expecting to sign MoUs worth Rs 8 lakh crore. Last year it was 4.6 lakh crore,’’ the minister said.

He said the chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is reviewing the status of the MoUs signed last year. About 26 of the MoUs signed last year pertained to Visakhapatnam district.

The Minister later launched the poster of book festival being jointly organised by department of culture, Andhra Pradesh and NTR Trust. Trust convener Dupati Vijay Kumar and others were present at the event.
