With Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham all set to launch a padayatra on January 25 Ravulapalem to Antarvedi in East Godavari district to seek inclusion of Kapus in the list of BCs, the police officials have cleared it out that without any permission, no such processions would be allowed.

The police informed that the prevailing circumstances in the district is the reason for not allowing the padayatra adding that no permission was sought for the same.

Speaking at a press conference in Kakinada, Superintendent of Police M Ravi Prakash said that the law and order in the district has witnessed disruptions due to violence at Kapu meetings in 1994, 1998, and 2016, hence they cannot allow the padayatra.

On the other hand, the Kapu leader is determined to undertake the padayatra and even raised the issue of seeking permission by questioning whether Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had taken prior permission from the police before they took up the padayatras in the district.

He further criticised the state government for trying to supress the Kapu movement by utilizing the police forces.
