Vijayawada: Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC) E Meer Prasad warned of action against those who violate traffice rules in an awareness programme held as part of Road Safety Week here on Sunday. The DTC distributed sweets to bike riders and drivers who did not wear helmets and seatbelts warning them that the department would register cases against them if they violate rules.

He said they were giving ‘sweet warning’ to vehicle riders to caution them and create awareness among the public. He also said the most of the people dying in road accidents were youngsters as they neglect wearing helmets. The transport department will conduct awareness programmes in schools and colleges to create awareness on road safety.
