Visakhapatnam: A mass patriotic event was organised here on Tuesday at the Alwardas Sports Complex, MVP Colony, on Tuesday to mark 67 years of Jana Gana Mana as national anthem.

Visakhapatnam: A mass patriotic event was organised here on Tuesday at the Alwardas Sports Complex, MVP Colony, on Tuesday to mark 67 years of Jana Gana Mana as national anthem.

Department of Language and Culture, voluntary body ACME, Alwardas Group of Educational Institutions and Writers’ Akademy have jointly organised the event involving 5,000 students drawn from different schools and colleges who rendered Jana Gana Mana.

Panchayat Raj Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, who witnessed the event, called upon the teaching community to teach lessons to promote patriotism among children.

“We as Indian citizens should honour and respect those security personnel guarding the borders round-the-clock to protect the country and the people.

Teachers should take the initiative of teaching moral and patriotic lessons to the students so that they could grow as responsible citizens,” he added.

Andhra University Registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao, Sunkara Rajendra of Alwardas Group of Educational institutions and V V Ramana Murty from Writers’ Akademy and BJP leader Adari Kishore Kumar were also present.

Sathya Sai Seva Dal Following the directive of State president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations (AP and TS) S G Chalam, the members of Seva Dal rendered service at the venue of patriotic event by serving butter milk, glucose water and drinking water to all the participants.

A first-aid centre was also set up with necessary medical assistance and president Chalam and principal of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar A Kausalya appreciated the service of their students.
