Releasing a book on ‘Social media-connecting the world 24X7’ jointly penned by HoD, Department of Journalism Prof P Bobby Vardhan and Dr Suman here at a function on Tuesday, the Vice Chancellor felt that the social media should be utilised in a proper way to benefit
the society.

“It’s very difficult now to think of an IT-free world and the public, too, were staying away from the human relations by making themselves busy with the routine life and making friendship using Facebook.

The Vice-Chancellor complimented the authors for writing such a valuable book.

Author Prof Bobby Vardhan said that social media has been distancing people from family members as an alternative media and further there was no scope to keep any personal or other important issues confidential.

“All important issues, including good and bad of social media, have been included in the book and social media has been included as a subject in the curriculum of journalism,” he said.

Prof D V R Murty said that various means of publicity now has been tilting towards mass and social media from print and electronic media.

He said that print media had benefited N T Rama Rao in becoming the Chief Minister in 1982 while the digital media is instrumental for Narendra Modi becoming the Prime Minister.

He asked the student community and intellectuals to go through the book. Andhra University Arts College principal Prof K Gayatri Devi said this book stands as a guide for the present generation and soft skills trainer C Krishnaveer Abhishek reviewed the book.

Faculty member Dr C Rama Krishna and students attended the function.
