Visakhapatnam: Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Central Circle, Ram Kripal conducted statutory inquiry at Divisional Railway Manager’s office here on Tuesday in connection with the derailment of Hirakhand express at Kuneru Railway station in Rayagada – Vizianagaram double line section of Waltair Division.

The Chief Safety Officer, East Coast Railway SS Mishra, Chief Motive Power Engineer, South Eastern Railway P K Pandal, Chief Motive Power Engineer, East Coast Railway B K Rath, Chief Signal Engineer, East Coast Railway V Soren, Chief Track Engineer, East Coast Railway S Nayak; Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division Chandralekha Mukherjee; Deputy Chief Safety Officer (Traffic) East Coast Railway M M Patnaik; Senior divisional safety officer, Waltair Division PK Moharana, and some of who were present at the site for rescue, relief and restoration operations were also present to provide inputs.

Railway staff who were on duty on that day, the train passengers, and members of public having knowledge relating to this derailment and matters connected therewith, also deposed before CRS. An inquiry was also held by the Commissioner, at Rayagada on Monday where in the evening, the Commissioner met members of the public.

He also met the injured passengers, interacted with them at Rayagada and Parvatipuram hospitals. He visited King George Hospital to interact with the injured passengers undergoing
treatment.
