Speaking to The Hans India correspondent here on Wednesday, the KGGH-head of department of chest diseases, Prof M Raghavendra Rao said that the hospital is having the sufficient machinery to deal with emergency arising out of the situation.

Hospitals in the state are put on high alert following swine flu outbreak in Hyderabad city.

The KGGH-head of department of chest diseases and district HINI nodal officer said that there is a 10-bed separate unit for treatment of swine flu cases.

Coupled with this, the hospital is well-equipped with PCR lab facility at SVIMS, Tirupati for the required tests. In addition to this the PCR lab facility will also be coming in to existence at KGH, Visakhapatnam , Government hospitals at Guntur and Kurnool very shortly as the AP government initiated measures to this extent.

Earlier, we used to send swab samples for PCR test to Hyderabad, he said . The availability of this facility at Kakinada helps us in diagnosing and treating the infected patients in a short span of time, Dr. Raghavendra Rao revealed on Wednesday.
