He wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on Wednesday and also demanded him announce a minimum of Rs 5 lakh as ex gratia to the kin of the kidney patients died in the last two years.

The MP said in the letter that a survey carried out in the district revealed that ground water in about 48 of the total 56 mandals were affected with fluoride and the people in the areas, who consumed it regularly, are suffering from dental, skeletal fluorosis and chronic kidney disease.

He explained the need of immediate measures to control the situation and said that situation in the district more intensive than that in Uddhanam in Srikakulam district.

He asked the Chief Minister to send the same Central team from the National Institute of Epidemiology, scheduled to visit Uddhanam in February to the Prakasam district also to conduct a door-to-door survey and research on the cause of the kidney disease.

Subba Reddy informed the Chief Minister that about 427 people died in the district due to kidney disease for the past two years.
