Vijayawada: Federation of All India Rice Millers Association (FAIRMA) national president Tarsem Saini demanded that a uniform policy should be adopted on power charges collected from rice mills all over India and the government should take measures to check corruption in Food Corporation of India, which collects levy from the rice millers.

The executive committee meeting of Federation of All India Rice Millers Association organised at a private function hall here on Wednesday discussed the problems being faced by rice millers across the country.

Leaders of FAIRMA from Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Odisha and other States participated and discussed their problems.

The FAIRMA is conducting meetings all over India to fight for the rights of the rice millers and create awareness on the problems being faced by millers in the country.

This is the second FAIRMA executive body meeting held in Vijayawada in recent years. Tarsem Saini said that there was a discrepancy in the power charges collected from the rice millers by different State governments in the country.

He said the rice millers were facing many problems due to corruption in Food Corporation of India, which collects levy from the rice millers.

He said the new software developed by the Central government for Food Corporation is extremely useful and helps cashless transactions between the FCI and the rice millers.
